Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than those you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from safe harbor. Catch the wind in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” — Mark Twain
Summer’s finally upon us and Fleet Captain Jim Gorski has exciting cruising destinations planned for us to experience in the coming weeks and months. As many of you know, there are no general meetings in July or August since this is when we take time to enjoy the water, boats and friends.
First up is the Bell Harbor Cruise, May 30-June 2, with Captains Bruce & Kathy Painter and Jim & Rhonda Turner. Because it’s always been so popular in the winter, we thought we’d add a summer cruise to Seattle. It’s a great opportunity to tie up in a major urban environment and enjoy all that the city has to offer, including shopping, restaurants and cool attractions. Even if you don’t want to take your boat, you can drive over to enjoy the festivities on the dock or around town. The 4th of July Cruise, July 2-5, to Reid Harbor with Captains Jim & Susie Gorski and Steve & Maggie Smith, has always received rave reviews and strong participation by club members. Enjoy the scavenger hunt, mid-day dinghy parade, fabulous BBQs and singing with libations! July 5-10, with Captains Duane Madinger and Jim & Susie Gorski, cruise to Deer Harbor, Echo Bay and conclude at Rosario Resort. For those who want more adventure, join the Destination Desolation Cruise headed to Canada July 9-17 with Captains Paul & Elizabeth Eisenhardt and Gerry & Cindy Walsh to explore Nanaimo, Comox and Gorge Harbour.
Next up is the Pleasant Harbor Cruise, August 16-18, with Captains Dave & Lisa McCammon, Tim & Kathy Loika and Co-Captains (in training) Jim & Karen Cavin. This is a favorite that you can enjoy by land or by sea. There’s also an option to cruise on to Alderbrook Resort, August 18-20.
These cruises offer an opportunity to get to know your fellow club members and experience amazing destinations with your PTYC family. If you’re interested in participating in any of these and haven’t signed up yet, contact the respective cruise captains for availability and more information.
I’m looking forward to seeing you at the meeting on June 11th, which just happens to be the “Commodorable’s” birthday and she wants to spend it with her PTYC friends. She promises champagne will be flowing! See you around the harbor.
