2019 November Commodore Column–Snug and Cozy

Looking out my window as I write this, the rain is pelting on the deck, the fire’s going and football is on. That’s certainly a sign that fall is here and winter is just around the corner. But it reminds me that this time of year is when our clubhouse really comes to life with all the various parties and events of the upcoming season.

In just a few days, November will kick off with PTYC’s annual Crab Feast on Nov. 9th and Scott, from New Day Fisheries, promises that this year’s crab will be some of the best. Hope you’ve bought your ticket and we look forward to seeing you there.

At our November 12th meeting, members will vote to approve the 2020 Slate of Officers and Board Members.

Next up, don’t forget the Clubhouse Cleanup on November 16th (see Page 18.) This always sounds like a lot of work for people who haven’t attended, but I can tell you that this event is actually a lot of fun. Working side by side with the many people who attend, make even the hardest tasks a joy. We hope many of you come to help, even if it’s only for an hour.

Christina and I want to wish you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving. We all have so much to be thankful for, including all of you—our friends here at the Yacht Club.

Also, if the upcoming Bell Harbor Cruise, Dec. 1st through 5th, is in your future, make sure you’ve signed up with Debbie and Bob Williams. It’s always great fun to be in downtown Seattle during the festive holiday season to see all the decorations.

And, speaking of the holidays, be sure Saturday, Dec. 14th is on your calendar for the club’s Holiday Potluck Party. More details about that in next month’s column.

So here’s a toast to another Seahawk win and wishing you a happy and safe, warm and cozy fall season ahead.
