T37 NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 12th, 2019 – 9:00 a.m. to 4 p.m.
SEATTLE YACHT CLUB
Hello T37 Sailors, friends and families—
The 2019 T37 NCR is one month away, on Saturday, October 12th. The venue is the Seattle Yacht Club, which has been our co-host for several national championships as well as the Region 6 championships last Spring. We are a part of their sailing program, as well.
All T37 sailors are invited to compete, as we do not have qualifying regattas, unlike some of the other RC classes. Nevertheless, the competition is keen and we do get racers from outside the immediate area. For those just getting into T37 sailing, such as those with new kits or uncompleted boats and who are not planning to sail, we suggest that you nevertheless come to the event to observe and learn. Or, even better, be a volunteer while you observe and learn.
Four or 5 volunteers would be wonderful. Two or 3 can be in the thick of the action, calling the start and recording finishes. This is a great place to watch sailing techniques and see what works! A couple of photographers will make a valuable contribution. A volunteer at the boat registration and weigh-in would be nice and we need someone to sell script for the drinks at the post-race get-together and Awards Ceremony upstairs in the Marine Room. Sailors, please ask your family and friends if they would accompany you and help out. Thanks in advance! If you can help, please contact me at 253-279-3595 or email@example.com.
Boat registration should be between 8:30 and 9:15. Skippers’ meeting is at 9:45 and racing should start at 10 a.m. We hope to finish racing by 3 p.m. to allow final scoring in time for awards at 4 p.m. Details are specified in the attached Notice of Race (NOR) which will also be available on our website (PNMYC.org). Sailing Instructions (SI) will be available at the venue. If you don’t send me your entry right away, please send me an email (firstname.lastname@example.org) telling me that you are racing, so we can plan.
This regatta is sanctioned and partly sponsored by the American Model Yacht Association (AMYA). We, Pacific Northwest Model Yacht Club (PNMYC), are AMYA club #294 and are in Region 6. In order to participate in this regatta, skippers must be members of the AMYA and their boats must be registered with the T37 Class Secretary, Will Lesh. If you are not an AMYA member now, please get a move-on. You will need an AMYA membership number to register your boat and register for the regatta. You can join AMYA via their website, theAMYA.org, or by using the form attached below. Canadian skippers may be members of their national club rather than the AMYA.
We are getting new boat builders and new members all the time. This has always been a great event. Please come and see how much fun these wonderful boats are!
