PTYC and Gold Star Marine Present: "A Night of Gold"

Published on 2/10/2026

It begins with a shipwreck carrying tons of gold sinking 8,000 feet below the water’s surface. This Ship of Gold story enticed a young marine engineer to invent something that had yet to exist – a robotic and recovery system, enabling work on the deep-sea floor. He similarly enticed a large group of investors to buy in to make their fortune. Perhaps $1 billion in gold was retrieved … but what happened to it and where is the marine engineer?

Our presenter is Alan Scott, the contracted sonar expert, who navigated the Columbus-America Discovery to the exact location of the gold. As the speaker at several events throughout the Puget Sound area, Alan has enraptured audiences with this golden tale.
