"Suddenly in Command", our morning session, is a 90 minute boating safety course focused on educating skippers and their spouses, partners or guests & crew who are not normally at the helm, what to do if the skipper becomes ill, gets injured, falls overboard or is otherwise incapacitated and unable to take the helm. The purpose of this short course is to familiarize the participants with essential safety information so that they can assess and stabilize the situation, operate the vessel, and summon any required assistance.

"Crossing the Straits" is our afternoon program. After a short lunch break (sack lunch may be purchased with registration by April 4th), we are pleased to bring Captain Roger Slade of TowBoatUS to talk about the perils of crossing the straits of Juan de Fuca and how to become better decision makers in your cruise planning. Roger will address the best methods for crossing, how to evaluate the different weather and sea conditions that will impact recreational boats, optional routes for crossing and share stories of his encounters assisting distressed vessels. Roger has been assisting boaters off the northern Olympic Peninsula with his tow services since 2001.

Members and their guests are invited to return at 5:00 PM for the Safety Day Chowder Potluck. Please sign up separately for that event.
