About this event

The tentative plan is to depart north via the San Juans and Gulf Islands to arrive in either Nanaimo (for provisioning) or Silva Bay and awaiting the weather window for a good crossing northeast across the Strait of Georgia, Jedediah Island marine Provincial Park, then to Pender Harbour Madeira Park Marina. Fuel is available in Nanaimo, Pender Harbour or Eggmont, as may be needed, before beginning the long reaches up to Princess Louisa.

Waggoner’s reports that it is 45 nautical miles from Pender Harbour to Chatterbox Falls at the head of Princess Louisa Inlet.  Princess Louisa has a 650 foot long park dock and 5 nearby mooring buoys, all at no charge. Stays are limited to 72 hours.

Following the Princess Louisa stay, some cruisers may elect to continue north to Desolation Sound or return south via the Sunshine Coast to the Gulf Islands. A group meeting will be used to firm up return travel plans.

June 8:  Jumping off from Prevost Harbor, Stuart Island Marine State Park (overnight) [or Blind Bay, Shaw Is.] with cruise north to Bedwell Harbor South Pender Island BC Canadian Immigration (fuel Poet's Cove) depending on weather

June 9:  Anchor (overnight) Winter Cover, Saturna Island (alternative -go to Port Browning, North Pender Island, with good café and restaurant and option to dinghy to Poet’s Cove and hike at Provincial Park)

June 10:  Anchor overnight at Montaque Harbor on Galiano Island

June 11:  Moor at Page's Resort and Marina on Gabriola Island and prepare to cross the Georgia Strait

June 12:  Anchor for 2 nights at Jebediah Island Marine Provincial Park.

June 14:  Transit to Jervis Inlet with an overnight stay at any of a number of prime anchorages, including Pender Harbor and Green Bay.

June 16:  Long days’ travel from Pender Harbour, Jervis Inlet, to Princess Louisa Inlet. (Jervis to PL Google Map) Anchor (three nights) Chatterbox Falls, Princess Louisa Marine Provincial Park. If leaving from Egmont area, this cuts 1 to 2 hrs off the trip time to Louisa.

June 18:  Long days’ travel from Chatterbox Falls through Jervis Inlet across to Sturt Bay (overnight), Texada Island. Sturt Bay, located on the north end of Texada Island near Van Anda, offers a well-protected, quiet anchorage and is a top, underrated boating destination. The Sturt Bay Boat Club provides 300 feet of visitor moorage on a first-come, first-served basis, featuring 15-amp power

June 19:  Anchor Comox, Vancouver Island

June 21:  Comax to Naiaimo.  Alternative would be anchoring in Silva Bay, Gabriola Island or French Creek, Vancover Island

June 22:  Anchor Ladysmith

June 24:  Anchor Maple Bay overnight, then cruise home to Washington
