January 13 (10-noon)
Boating Experiences Workshop
To Alaska & Back; What Worked and What Didn't

Captain:  Dale Moses

The public is welcome to attend this workshop - no registration or fee is required

Offered three times a year, these workshops bring together members and fellow boaters to discuss topics of boating interest.  Held at the Clubhouse.

This session will feature PTYC Member Tom Howard who has made several trips back and forth to Alaska. Tom will share his insights and what he has learned from his travels. Workshops are designed as an open discussion, so bring your questions and your note pads and learn from the experiences of those who come to share.

Attendance is open to anyone in the boating community and a good way for non-members to see what PTYC has to offer. Feel free to bring along any of your boating friends, especially those who dream of boating to Alaska.

January 27 (5:30-8:30 PM)
Change of Watch

Captain: Darren O'Brien

OYEZ! OYEZ! OYEZ!

The Honorable Commodore Eileen Baratuci and her Board will be Called to Session for 2024. Come join in the festivities as we express our gratitude for the 2023 outgoing Officers and Board and Call to Order the incoming elected 2024 Officers and her Board. The Club requires countless hours of volunteer efforts and this is the member's special night to acknowledge, honor, and celebrate our Club's accomplishments and look forward to the opportunities in the new year ahead.

To do this we host an evening of "sparkle or spiff" (aka: modest elegance) with a catered sit-down dinner prepared by Ambrosia Catering following a special happy hour with open bar and delectable appetizers,  As we wrap up the evening, we will enjoy a fun program that serves to highlight the many talents of our incoming leadership. Please join in the celebration with your PTYC friends!

February 24 (3-5 PM)
Scholarship Fund Silent Auction FunRaiser

Captains:  Jane Asbury, Alice Tibbals, Linda James

Get a Sneak Peak at Auction Items

We had so much fun in 2023 that we are doing it again in 2024 with a few twists.  This year, to broaden participation and make auction items more accessible to all participants, we have lowered the registration fee to $10 p.p. which covers snacks and event set-up.  Delicious Marrowstone Vineyards wines will be available for purchase by the glass or bottle which can be enjoyed while perusing the many Auction items that are brought to you at a wide range of price points.

Donations come to us by our generous Members as well as a variety of businesses that support the Mission behind our Scholarship Fund.  That is, to provide financial support to qualified students in the marine trades who are so important to our local maritime community.  100% of the proceeds from the Auction as well as the net profit from the sale of wine will go into the 2024 Scholarship Fund.

Your Co-Captains are very proud of the Donation items that have been gathered and proud of those Members who reached out to our local businesses to seek their support.

Sea Stories & Other Shanty Shenanigans with Duane Madinger

Co-Captains:  Alice Tibbals & Linda James

Sign Up Now!

Ever wonder about what a career at Sea might be like and the type of adventures one would experience? Ever wonder what it must be like to be the captain of a huge Oil Tanker Ship? Then this night is for you! Our very own Captain Duane Madinger has agreed to share his experiences, and of course sea stories, during his 32-year career at sea with the Merchant Marines. Prepare yourself for a fun evening of entertainment, not necessarily G-rated, and perhaps learn a thing or two along this epic journey.

This fundraiser to benefit the Port Townsend Yacht Club Marine Trades & Sciences Scholarship Fund will held at the 77-seat Key City Theater in Port Townsend, through a generous donation from Galmukoff Marine.  Dessert has been generously donated by Cold Mountain Baking.  A no-host bar will be available.

Doors open at 6:30 and dessert is served on arrival.  One-hour story time from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by half hour social until 8:30 PM.

April 28 (1-4 PM)
Open Boat Day at Port Hadlock

Co-Captains:  Lisa & Richard Brandes, Bill & Eileen Baratuci

Non-Members Welcome to View Boats - no registration required

This year our annual "Open Boat" event will be held at Port Hadlock Marina, home port to several of our PTYC members.  From 1-4 PM, members who wish to participate will welcome fellow PTYC members aboard to share some hosted wine (and, in some cases, snacks) and share their vessel's history.  It's a wonderful way to get to know our members and put faces with boats/names and also to see the infinite ways that we all live while on the water.  It's also a great time to share boating knowledge and expertise, perhaps finding someone who has met a challenge you may face in maintaining your vessel.  See you on the docks!

May 3 (5:30-8:00 PM)
Opening Day Dinner

Co-Captains:  Your PTYC Board

Honoring the fine tradition of holding an "Opening Day" weekend to remember, PTYC begins the weekend with a Friday evening plated dinner to officially open the boating season and honor all of our past Commodores who have served PTYC through the years. Even though many of us are out boating year round in our waters, there is something special about spiffing up the vessel and preparing for the boating season ahead. On Saturday we hope many of our members will join in a short cruise or sail to Port Ludlow for a more informal BBQ and gathering.

2025 Planning Meeting
Cruises & Events

Captains:  Jane Asbury & Eileen Baratuci

All members are strongly encouraged to join in the planning for our 2025 cruises and events.  Is there a destination you have in mind? Perhaps other members share your interest and a new cruise might be developed?  Collectively we work together to make plans for the year ahead and include not only the events everyone looks forward to but also find new ways to have fun and fulfill the needs of our members. Coffee and snacks are provided so bring your calendars and ideas and be prepared to volunteer to assist where Captains and Co-Captains are needed.

October 19 (9-2 PM)
Garage Sale Fundraiser

Captains: Wendy Weeks & Linda James

This is our big event of the year designed to support our Marine Trades Scholarship Fund.  It is a popular event for the Port Townsend Community who come looking for some great bargains to be found through donations by our club members.  Throughout the year we ask members to save up donations of all types of goods to contribute to this annual event. Used boating items are particularly sought after but we also do well with home goods, books, appliances, and sporting equipment.  With many hands helping, this is a fun and successful event that really helps make a difference for students who apply for one of our several scholarships.

November 9  (5:30 - 7:30)
Carl Sidle Memorial Crab Feed

Captains:  Michael & Jane Asbury and Bill & Linda James

Back by popular demand, PTYC will once again get "crabby"!  That means we will don our bibs, grab a few sides and enjoy the bounty of mouth-watering Dungeness crabs that are cooked by our own PTYC crab masters. Carl Sidle was a much loved founder of the Port Townsend Yacht Club who passed in 2021. He was always central to the cooking of the crabs and while his passing left a hole in our hearts, his spirit will live on as we continue this fine tradition. More details to follow as plans get underway.

December 14 (5:30-9:00 PM)

Wear your ugly sweaters, your holiday jammies, your festive hats or any other special holiday themed attire and delight in the seasonal joy with your PTYC friends. Details will follow as plans are put in place.
