Ahoy Me Hearties! Smile for the PTYC Press!

Ahoy Me Hearties!

It is good to remember that our club provides each of us with life-affirming opportunities for  adventures, deepening friendships, and maritime knowledge. We think it is important to capture these adventures and friendships through the creation of Club Photo Journal Albums. As such… a new committee has formed! Meet the nimble-fingered members of the photo journal team who will facilitate the creation and preservation of these albums on our website. Both have had extensive experience in photography and maintaining photo archives.

Mary Standaert resides seaside on Lower Adelma Beach which affords her daily fabulous photo opportunities. She had an amazing career in commercial fishing in Alaska (and we should have her as a future speaker.) Mary joined our club earlier this year and, fortunately for us, she has worked previously with the Club Express program.

Ken Bowen taught performing arts and was the photographer and photo editor in a private K-12 school for 20 years. He sailed Saga throughout the Great Lakes and now Saga has a new home in the Salish Sea. Check out Ken’s blog where he shares his adventures with Saga: adrift314.wordpress.com. Ken joined PTYC mid-2024 and we are excited that he will bring his talents to our growing website.

Welcome!

HOWEVER, this absolves none of you from continuing to take and share your photos. In fact, it is very important that you continue. As such, I want to recognize the excellent work of the following photographers whose photos I have shamelessly stolen over the past year. They are already published in albums online.

  • Ilona Bell, famous creator of the Baggy and photo manager
  • Paul Happel – historic & official boat photos
  • Jane Asbury, Event Coordinator
  • Deb Williams, Past Commodore and Event Coordinator
  • Wendy Weeks (Facebook manager for the club site- lots of photos there)
  • Libby Nordlund (Facebook Poster)
  • Karen Caven (Facebook Poster)
  • Bruce Painter (Facebook Poster)

Just so you know that we are serious, the first set of PTYC Press Buttons have arrived and all who wish to be anointed on the photo journal team may have one!

Finally, if you have not already done so, go check out the thirty-five or so albums currently visible to both members and the general public. Find them by going to ptyc.net and clicking on the News in the main menu, and then clicking on Photo Albums.

For more information on how to get your own photos up on your own profile page at PTYC.net, or to transfer your photos by email or thumb drive, please email susiegorski@gmail.com

Thank you!
