Opening Day Cruise-in to Port Ludlow

Every yacht club has its traditions, but common to all yacht clubs is celebrating the Opening Day of boating season, even in places where boating is year round!

Port Townsend honors this tradition with a two day celebration on the first weekend of May, starting with a Friday night dinner organized by our PTYC Board to honor those who have provided leadership to our club.  In 2024 we will forego the traditional opening day parade and instead hold a Mini-Cruise to Port Ludlow, for those vessels willing to venture out for an overnight stay at anchor or on the dock. Port Ludlow has great walking trails, a lovely short hike to local falls and full marina amenities.  At the shore-side tent we will celebrate with a Potluck BBQ Dinner. All Members are invited to attend!

Spring Shakedown Cruise to Hat Island and Everett

Ready to come out of winter hibernation? Our first stop will be Hat Island (aka Gedney Island), a privately owned Island and Marina just west of Everett. We have the nights of May 13 & 14 reserved for 15 boats and plan to enjoy all that Hat Island has to offer with power and water at their docks, restroom and shower facilities ashore, a covered BBQ pavilion and a private 9 hole golf course. On day of arrival we will gether for happy hour and heavy appetizers. On day 2, Linda and Scott are planning a fun "1 Club" Golf Team Scramble, no golfing experience required!  Prizes to be awarded including a special prize for the best Hat on Hat Island!  We will have a true potluck dinner after golf on the 14th. 

On May 15th, the group will cruise a short distance to the Port of Everett Guest Dock 5 in the heart of the Everett Marina. Here we will enjoy some of the delicious offerings at the Port including excellent restaurants, breweries, an organic distillery, a whiskey bar, a great bakery and coffee stops. This is an amazing Port, the largest on the west coast, and the amenities they are developing are impressive.  The Port is reserving the entire 665 lineal feet of Guest Dock 5 and the Activity Barge for us. Our first night will be a BBQ dinner at the Activity barge with the club providing the entree, cruisers bring the sides. The second night will be group dining at the Scuttlebutt Brewery in a private dining room. Walking opportunities abound to local parks and around the marina.  Jetty Island also is a fun destination by kayak or dinghy in fair weather.  Everett also offers shoreside lodging for those who may wish to join by car.  The Indigo Hotel is the closest to Guest Dock 5.

Fourth of July at Reid Harbor

This is ever so true for our Club's traditional 4th of July cruise to Reid Harbor. For more than three decades our Club has shown our patriotic colors and embarked on a 4th July dinghy parade like no other to greet fellow boaters anchored in this lovely Harbor. Rain or shine, we brighten the day for those yachters who seek a "quiet" holiday celebration.

Reid Harbor is unique in that we endeavor to occupy an entire floating dock for our festivities and shared meals. For those who enjoy a more private space, the bay has multiple mooring buoys and anchorages where the PTYC flotilla is just a dinghy ride away.

We are looking for Cruise Co-Captains for this annual event to help plan the food (usually the entree for the 4th July meal) and bring table coverings, orchestrate the dinghy parade, and help coordinate any group activities (kayaking, hiking?). Would you consider stepping up? Contact Fleet Captain, Jane Asbury to let her know how you might be able to assist. This is one of the easiest cruises to Co-Captain!

July 19 - July 28
Gulf Islands - the Sequel

This adventure is welcoming to all as your Co-Captains continue to explore some of the most popular destinations in the Canadian Gulf Islands.  The trip is designed to accommodate all cruising speeds, sailors and power boaters alike.


July 19th we'll meet in the San Juan Islands (likely Shaw Island) where we will celebrate our crossing of the Juan de Fuca Straits and discuss our crossing into Canada.  July 20th is the day we clear customs and enjoy Poet's Cove Resort (great hiking, dining, and a pool!).

July 21-22 our destinations give you a choice to visit either (1) Montague Harbor on Galiano Island (choose from Provincial Park Mooring Buoys, good anchorages, or a stay at the Montague Harbour Marina) or (2) head to Ganges Marina on Salt Spring Island. Ganges allows for anchorages as well as multiple marinas for proximity to great shopping/provisioning and restaurants with entertainment.

July 23-24 Cruisers will come back together at Telegraph Harbor Marina on Thetis Island. This is a very sheltered bay and lovely marina with a small general store, coffee bar, laundromat and showers with a fuel dock (and pies and ice cream too!). At Telegraph you may choose a day trip on the ferry to Chemainus, a picturesque artisan village on Vancouver Island's Cowichan coast.

July 25-26 We'll stay in Genoa Bay on Vancouver Island. From here you may visit wineries, the Cowichan Estuary Nature Preserve and Maritime Center, or enjoy fine dining ashore with a well stocked marina gift shop.

July 27 Our Cruise will return to the U.S. with an overnight stop in historic Garrison Bay. Learn how a pig started a war between the U.S. and Great Britain! Our fleet will enjoy a Sundowner with Captain Jim's famous old-fashions and a potluck dinner to complete the sojourn.

July 28th You may head for home or points beyond (or maybe work your way to the Anacortes Cruise on August 2nd?)

August 2 - 5 (+ 5 - 8)
Anacortes Arts Festival and Beyond

Back by popular demand, this cruise is perfect for a destination weekend at one of the oldest and largest arts festivals in the Northwest. Enjoy three days of perusing over 230 artisan booths, be entertained by two stages of free entertainment, partake at two beer gardens and a wine bar, and delight in lots of great downtown Anacortes shopping and dining.  After a flurry of activity in town, it is always nice to come back to the marina and enjoy the outstanding facilities and socializing on the docks. 18 slips are reserved and we may be able to secure more if we act quickly. Early registration for this cruise is necessary due to space limitations for this popular destination..

For those wishing to attend without a boat, there are many shoreside options for lodging as well as a private RV Park south of the marina and another nearby Washington Park. Reserve early for the best option for you.

Co-Captains are planning a "no-Host"group dinner in town for one evening and a potluck on the party dock for another, with a hosted main course provided by the Club.

From Anacortes, the cruise will continue (as an option) to Sucia Island Marine Par's Fossil Bay on August 5-7. There are two small docks with buoy and anchoring options (all first come-first served). From Sucia, the Co-Captains are planning to travel to Rosario Resort on Orcas Island and anyone is welcome to join in.

September 10 - 21
Central and South Puget Sound

Late summer cruising is sometimes the best! Western Washington is known for some great September weather so why not take one last cruise before the weather turns and head south to the ports of Kingston, Eagle Harbor, Tacoma, Olympia or Penrose State Park, Longbranch and then head north to Gig Harbor, Quartermaster Harbor, Blake Island and then home.  In addition to the great cruising, your cruise captains are planning for a dinner out in Kingston, Tacoma, a Potluck dinner on the dock at Longbranch, and a nice Italian dinner out in Gig Harbor.

Landlubbers are invited to join the fall cruisers for dinner out in Kingston, Tacoma, or Gig Harbor.

Bell Harbor/Kingston Winter Cruise

Let's "Jingle all the Way" to the Seattle waterfront for a 3 night holiday getaway.  On the return we will stop for 2 nights at the Port of Kingston to enjoy their magnificent Holiday Lights and related special activities on Saturday December 7


Due to limited gathering space at Bell Harbor, reservations are limited to the first eight boats to sign up. If we have greater interest, individuals may ask for moorage from the Port. Ride the colorful Great Wheel, shop Pike Place Market, visit the local Pubs and enjoy one or more shared meals. This is a cozy cruise, sometimes weather risky but warm with friendships.

Kingston's Holiday Lighting is a fun-filled day with bands, choral groups and sing-alongs, Santa arriving with a tree lighting ceremony and magnificent light displays throughout the Park. What a great way to kick off the holiday spirit!
