2025 Commodore’s Column: “Welcome 2025!!”

As we approach the new year, I feel I must remark on the great Christmas party and thank all the volunteers for a job well done! One suggested rule change for the gift exchange, we don’t allow more than 2 steals from the same person!
Going into January we have a very busy schedule. Our membership meeting on January 14th features Jonathan Cline who will talk about his experiences up on the booms in tall ships. Later that same week, January 18th , we celebrate our Change of Watch as a PTYC “Pub Night” theme. Here we honor our outgoing 2024 officers and trustees and welcome in our 2025 Commodore and Board.
The next week, Saturday, January 25th we have another addition to our “Boating Experience” workshop with Dan Newland. Dan will talk about his storied Sailing History, building boats, sailing singlehandedly, and winning the TransPac race three times in boats he built himself.
2025 will bring significant changes to our Club as we decide on a venue for future meetings. The membership will vote for the venue of their choice. My job as your Commodore, along with the new Board, is to provide all the information needed to make an informed choice and to execute the decision of the membership. Meanwhile, our Club will continue to operate with mindfulness of traditions while developing new ways to support our social gatherings.
Cheers,
Commodore Scott
