2025 Ahoy All...November Considerations

Scott Abbey | Published on 10/30/2025

Ahoy all,

Once again,we are navigating thru uncharted waters as we head to our new home at the NWMC. In October, Wendy organized our first dinner meeting. Overall it was a huge success. We had 58 members partaking in dinner. It had some logistical issues, like the transition from dinner to meeting with the influx of more people. This is an issue that can be easily corrected. Plus at the Maritime Center, there will be more space flexibility. I thank the Baratuci‘s and the Moses for serving as Watch Captains for this inaugural event.

Dale presented an excellent Boating Experiences Workshop with speaker Dan NewlandI was impressed by the benefits of the AIS transponders ... a safety feature for nonverbal communication with other vessels.

For those that don’t realize it, the Transition Committee is hard at work preparing for abandoning this ship. I walked into the clubhouse on Thursday, October 23, and found a pile of old paint cans to be brought out for appropriate disposal. Our behind-the-scenes people are hard at work. Michael has purchased a new audio system with remote microphones, as well as a new projector. Both have been used at the Boating Experiences Workshop, and the last member meetingWe have a group preparing an offer to buy our appliances and furniture. Organization is a wonderful thingThanks to all.

Every event and meeting left in our Clubhouse will have a sentimental feel.

Fair winds and following seas,

Commodore Scott

There are good ships and there are wood ships. The ships that sail the sea.
But the best ships are Friendships, and may that always be.
