About this event
Our Club is very fortunate to have Gail and Robert Chanpong join us to share their knowledge of disaster response to severe weather events around the world. Robert, a retired petroleum geologist, will focus on how our boaters may prepare for extreme weather events and adjust for the aftermath of natural disasters. Gail has had a long career as a public health specialist and has worked around the world in Latin America, the Caribbean, Africa, Southeast Asia and the Middle East. Gail brings a very unique perspective as a disaster response expert with American Red Cross in the Pacific Rim. She will focus on disaster operations in Guam (Typhoon Mawar), the Maui wildfire and the impact of cyclone Gabrielle on North Island, New Zealand. Both of their resumes are rich with experience and we are lucky to call them fellow PTYC boaters!
