January 14 (10-noon)
Boating Experiences Workshop
Provisioning for a Cruise

Captain:  Dale Moses

Offered three times a year, these workshops bring together members and fellow boaters to discuss topics of boating interest.

This session will continue with the topic of planning and provisioning in preparation for cruising. No matter how experienced you are, there are always nuggets of wisdom shared by our members and those in attendance.  The forum is an open discussion led by Dale Moses and selected "expert" members.  This session will feature Paul Handel and Linda Newland, both very experienced cruisers.

Attendance is open to anyone in the boating community and a good way for non-members to see what PTYC has to offer. Feel free to bring along any of your boating friends!

Let's kick off 2023 in style with our fun and festive celebration of the outgoing and incoming PTYC Officers and Board.  They work hard for all of us to assure a smooth running club and this is our chance to honor those efforts. It's sure to be a red carpet affair with a fabulous dinner prepared by award-winning Chef Lynette Clemens of Hills and Valley Catering. With Duane Madinger as our honorable Emcee, you are sure to have a fun evening and learn some interesting history about our incoming Commodore, Darren O'Brien and his "commodorable" wife, Lisa O'Brien. The event includes a happy hour hosted bar with wine service at dinner.

Join our mid-winter fun-raising event, 4-6 PM, and sample some delicious wines provided by Marrowstone Vineyards, FairWinds Winery and The Wine Seller of Port Townsend. Cheese and crackers provided with white wines and a variety of chocolates will be served with the reds. Registration is $30 per person with all proceeds benefiting the PTYC Marine Trades Scholarship Fund.  As a bonus we will hold a simultaneous Silent Auction for your chance to bid on both goods and events/experiences donated by our generous club members. The Auction is sure to be a win-win for our members and the scholarship recipients!

A total of $5,886 was raised at this event from ticket sales, decorative wine bottle sales and the Silent Auction - both in person and remote bids ended up winning.

March 18 (5:30-9:00 PM)
St. Paddy’s Day Potluck & Movie Night

Co-Captains: Jim & Susie Gorski

Hear ye hear ye... come one and come all for a fun evening celebrating St. Paddy's Day. On March 18, 2023 (albeit a day late) we will have an Irish Potluck at the Club House celebrating our Irish or adopted Irish roots and watching a feature film Fisherman's Friends II.  If you have not seen Fisherman's Friends 1, released in 2019, your assignment is to watch it before the event. Do not watch Fisherman's Friends II (2021) -- as that is the one we will celebrate with sea shanties, raucous British fisherman, and their rugged lives.

Sign up and tell us what you might want to bring. It can be Irish -- or not -- and we promise you an evening of laughter and frivolity with your clubmates.  Please provide your own table settings

April 15 (all day)
Safety Day

Captain:  Bradley Brooks

Ensure your boat is ready for the boating season and sign-up for a Vessel Safety Check (VSC) at Boat Haven, Port Hadlock or Port Ludlow! VSC will be performed on your boat by a member of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary. Use this link to sign-up for a time slot. If you are unable to participate on this day or your boat is located at a different marina, please contact the event Captain to schedule another day.

April 15 (5:00-8:30 PM)
Safety Day Chowder Party

Captain:  Debbie Williams, Seeking Co-Captain Volunteer

Following our boating safety event, let's get together and sample a variety of home-cooked Chowders prepared by our very own PTYC chefs. Attendees will be asked to bring a chowder, appetizer, or dessert.   We are seeking 10 pots of homemade Chowder (any type) if you feel up to the challenge.  If not, please sign up to bring an appetizer or a dessert. Don't miss this gustatory spring delight!

April 29 (1-4 PM)
Open Boat Day at Port Ludlow

Captains:  Rhonda and Jim Turner

NonMembers Welcome to View Boats - no registration required

This year our annual "Open Boat" event will be held at Port Ludlow Marina, home port to several of our PTYC members.  From 1-4 PM, members who wish to participate will welcome fellow PTYC members aboard to share some hosted wine (and, in some cases, snacks) and share their vessel's history.  It's a wonderful way to get to know our members and put faces with boats/names and also to see the infinite ways that we all live while on the water.  It's also a great time to share boating knowledge and expertise, perhaps finding someone who has met a challenge you may face in maintaining your vessel.  See you on the docks!

May 5 (5:30-8:00 PM)
Past Commodores Dinner

Co-Captains:  Jim and Susie Gorski

Honoring the fine tradition of holding an "Opening Day" weekend to remember, PTYC begins the weekend with a Friday evening dinner and flag raising ceremony to officially open the boating season. In addition, we take time to honor all of those past Commodores who have served PTYC through the years. Even though many of us are out boating year round in our waters, there is something special about spiffing up the vessel, hoisting decorative flags and preparing for the annual boat parade that follows on Saturday morning. Let's keep all of these wonderful traditions alive!

2024 Planning Meeting
Cruises & Events

Captains:  Wendy Weeks & Darren O'Brien

All members are strongly encouraged to join in the planning for our 2024 cruises and events.  Is there a destination you have in mind? Perhaps other members share your interest and a new cruise might be developed?  Collectively we work together to make plans for the year ahead and include not only the events everyone looks forward to but also find new ways to have fun and fulfill the needs of our members. Coffee and snacks are provided so bring your calendars and ideas and be prepared to volunteer to assist where Captains and Co-Captains are needed.

October 14 (9-2 PM)
Garage Sale Fundraiser

Co-Captains: Wendy Weeks & Susie Gorski

This is our big event of the year designed to support our Marine Trades Scholarship Fund.  It is a popular event for the Port Townsend Community who come looking for some great bargains to be found through donations by our club members.  Throughout the year we ask members to save up donations of all types of goods to contribute to this annual event. Used boating items are particularly sought after but we also do well with home goods, books, appliances, and sporting equipment.  With many hands helping, this is a fun and successful event that really helps make a difference for students who apply for one of our several scholarships.

November 11(5-8 PM)
Carl Sidle Memorial Crab Feed

Co-Captains:  Michael Asbury and Eileen Baratuci

Back by popular demand, PTYC will once again get "crabby"!  That means we will don our bibs, grab a few sides and enjoy the bounty of mouth-watering Dungeness crabs that are cooked by our own PTYC crab masters. Carl Sidle was a much loved founder of the Port Townsend Yacht Club who passed in 2021. He was always central to the cooking of the crabs and while his passing left a hole in our hearts, his spirit will live on as we continue this fine tradition. More details to follow as plans get underway.

December 16 (5:30-9:00 PM)
Holiday Pirate Party

Captains: The Board

Joyous holiday fun will be had for the annual holiday dinner and gift exchange. Wear your finest Pirate attire as we swashbuckle our way through the holiday season.  No Pirate attire? No problem!  Wear your ugly sweaters, your holiday jammies, your festive hats or any other special holiday themed attire and celebrate the seasonal joy with your PTYC friends.  Details will follow as plans are put in place.
