Through generous donations from Club members and the community, the wide variety of items and experiences shown below will be auctioned off at the Scholarship Fund Silent Auction FunRaiser on February 24th.  All proceeds go to the Port Townsend Yacht Club Marine Trades and Sciences Scholarship Fund.  We're looking for a blockbuster fundraising year, so start thinking now about which of these wonderful opportunities you want to take home.

Ever wonder about what a career at Sea might be like and the type of adventures one would experience? Ever wonder what it must be like to be the captain of a huge Oil Tanker Ship? Then this night is for you! Our very own Captain Duane Madinger has agreed to share his experiences, and of course sea stories, during his 32-year career at sea with the Merchant Marines. Prepare yourself for a fun evening of entertainment, not necessarily G-rated, and perhaps learn a thing or two along this epic journey.

Two beautifully hand painted wine glasses nestled in a woven wooden basket with a bottle of Buttercream Chardonnay wine. The rimless, pulled stemmed wine glasses feature a night scene upon the ocean with a lighthouse and palm tree. These wine glasses are painted by a local artist. They should be hand washed with a mild dish soap and running water using a soft cloth. Please do not soak them in hot water. The vintage 2021 Buttercream Chardonnay wine is from a California winery located in the Napa Valley, CA area. It features a rich creamy texture with fruit forward flavors of vanilla, and tropical fruits. It is oak barrel finished.

Join Tim and Alice Tibbals in their home for a Leg of Lamb dinner. This offering includes appetizers, main course, dessert, and wine to complement this meal. Tim served in Greece for 16 months in his military service. He grew to LOVE lamb while there. For the past several years Tim has been experimenting and trying several recipes for a Leg of Lamb and has settled on a favorite, which he prepares with a marinade and then cooks on the grill. Entrees include seasonal veggies, potato dish, and freshly baked bread.

Port Townsend Guided Trail Walk for 4

A two-hour guided walk for up to four persons will be led by the trail master, Scott Walker.  35 years ago, he began working with the city on planning and developing Port Townsend's extensive trail system. It includes both developed and undeveloped public right-of-way and runs pretty much everywhere: downtown, residential neighborhoods, Cappy’s Woods, North Beach, and the Larry Scott. The event will include a custom-colored map of PT’s trails. The date and start location will be mutually agreeable.

Six lucky bidders will join award-winning playwright Judith Glass Collins from 1PM to 5PM on Thursday, March 21 in a playwrighting class at Marrowstone Vineyards.  Collins is the 6-time winner of Port Townsend’s Playwright’s Festival One-Act Play Competition.

By the end of the class, participants will each have completed a 10-minute play.  Class includes one complimentary glass of wine to get your creative juices flowing.  This is a very unique opportunity to foster both your imagination and writing skills, all while enjoying the privacy of the loft at Marrowstone Vineyards with a glass of wine in hand!

Bid individually and the top 6 bidders will be rewarded with this Class.

Ride-Along Shrimp Research

Washington Dept of Fish & Wildlife

Join WDFW Shellfish biologists aboard their 40' Research Vessel conducting shrimp test fisheries. Participate in the work or just observe as the crew sets/pulls traps, records catch data, and measures animals. Work is performed throughout the southern Salish Sea in April and October. Ride-Along date must be coordinated with WDFW staff and is part of the normal work schedule. All test fishery work is weather dependent.
