There were two guests of members and three more outsiders who had heard about the workshop on our website and in The Leader. El Duano Madinger gave an outstanding overview of anchors and how to use them. Then Commodore Darren O’Brien gave an equally great overview of mooring and the maneuvering needed for smooth landings. He ended up with a discussion of making to a buoy and demonstrated a boathook-like device for automatically passing a line through a buoy ring. In fact, he sells these devices and plans to advertise them to the yacht club.
